I am a Registered Acupuncture Practitioner with the Chinese Medical Institute and Register (C.M.I.R.) and trained by Chinese doctors from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology treating many health problems, offering pain relief and stress relief, and a specialist in Cosmetic Acupuncture registered with Cosmetic Acupuncture UK, the professional practitioner network.
Cosmetic Acupuncture, sometimes referred to as “facial rejuvenation”, is a non-surgical cosmetic anti-aging programme to improve the way that you look and feel about yourself. Your health and beauty is important and this treatment programme can be used safely alongside your own cosmetics. I use specialist Chinese cosmetic preparations and techniques such as Gua Sha massage and acupressure facial massage, as well as herbal masks and acupuncture which all work together to give you a more youthful and fresher appearance, and is an alternative to surgical face-lift techniques.
In an age where everyone is under pressure to perform and to look their best Cosmetic Acupuncture or “facial rejuvenation” leaves you feeling healthier and with a revitalised appearance without surgery and without all the painful after effects. It is also a less costly alternative cosmetic holistic therapy for health and beauty.
How you may benefit from Cosmetic Acupuncture
Many of the important signs that we look for in diagnosis can be found on the face. There is little wonder therefore that the signs of aging also tell us about the signs of ill health. Cosmetic acupuncture addresses the underlying state of the body and relaxes you so that you not only look better but you also feel better.
The various techniques and herbal masks, acupressure facial massage and acupuncture work together to:
- Boost collagen production
- Moisturise the skin
- Improve cellular regeneration
- Balance oiliness and dryness
- Close pores
- Reduce wrinkles, fine lines and sagging
- Help the skin to recover from spots, puffiness and dark circles
- Promotes a healthier glowing skin
What can you expect when you come for a cosmetic acupuncture treatment?
Cosmetic acupuncture is a holistic healing therapy to help your body regenerate and heal the tissues that show the signs of aging. As an anti-aging programme therefore, the first part of the treatment involves treating the underlying problems which may be hindering regeneration of the tissues giving a more aged effect to the face. You will have a few needles in body points according to your individual Chinese Medicine syndrome, which is determined at consultation, which will assist your body to rejuvenate and repair.
You will then experience a wonderful facial using Chinese cosmetic techniques and cosmetic products which brighten and nourish the skin. Some of the specialist cosmetic techniques which I use are Gua Sha, acupressure, herbal masks, jade roller and cupping.
Very fine cosmetic needles are then inserted just under the skin. For signs of aging which involve the jaw line and sagging of the face electro-acupuncture may also be used. Warming of the needles or acupuncture points on the face may also be appropriate. This is called moxibustion.
After the needles are removed you will have a relaxing facial and hand massage to smooth away the stresses of the day. The whole treatment takes one and a half hours leaving you wonderfully revived and relaxed at the same time.
How many treatments will you need?
A full course is 12 appointments, usually once a week. Following the full course, it is advisable to continue having a treatment once a month to keep on top of your beauty regime. Chinese medicine is wonderful as a preventative treatment and will not only help to keep your looks but also keep you healthy. (see the photo gallery)
